The Pittsburgh region is known as a place for collaborators. This fall has been a challenging time in the Pittsburgh region, especially over the past several weeks. During this time, our region’s people have shown a common interest of supporting and welcoming one another. That's what the Pittsburgh region is: the home to people who embody compassion, share strength and build together. Perhaps Pittsburgh’s people have embraced these characteristics throughout the region’s entire history and not only for the past century, when this collaboration has been well documented. Regardless, that Pittsburgh spirit extends throughout southwestern Pennsylvania and unites us. I believe it will continue carrying us into the future as we seek to improve our region as a place for all to thrive.

The Allegheny Conference held its Annual Meeting on November 8th at the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Seeing the great turnout was heartwarming and inspiring, and we appreciate your support. If you couldn’t make it, please enjoy this gallery of photos from the evening. I also encourage you to read the opening remarks from Bill Demchak, Allegheny Conference Chair and Chairman, President and CEO of the PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. Click here to read his remarks on the need to come together in unity as the Pittsburgh region.

In these final weeks of 2018, the Conference will continue the work of our 2018-2019 Agenda. As we look further ahead, next year promises to present numerous opportunities for investor and community engagement, including activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pittsburgh’s first great renaissance by making 2019 a year of civic leadership between today’s and tomorrow’s leaders. We will also begin planning for our next agenda, which will begin in 2020.

This report highlights progress being made against the Allegheny Conference’s 2018-19 Agenda – Creating a Next Generation Economy for All, including some of the ways we are working, in partnership with the region’s public, private and non-profit sectors, to make our region a better place for the companies who invest here and the people who live here.

On behalf of the Allegheny Conference Board of Directors, I thank you for your dedication to the Pittsburgh region.

Sincerely,
